A nation of immigrants?
Immigration accounted for a significant portion of the population growth in the second quarter, as net immigration was 350 individuals. Most of the net immigration was by foreign nationals, as 120 more Icelandic nationals emigrated than immigrated. The total number of foreign nationals living in Iceland is 25,000. A full third of the foreign nationals who immigrated to Iceland during the second quarter came from Poland.
Most of the Icelanders who emigrated during the second quarter moved to Scandinavia. A total of 680 Icelandic nationals moved to Denmark Norway and Sweden.
