The Metropolitan Police is no closer to shedding light on the events leading up to a tragic accident in downtown Reykjavík on June 30 when a young US citizen fell to his death from a rooftop on Lækjargata street. The man, who was born in 1992, was traveling alone in Iceland when the accident happened.

Last week the Metropolitan Police appealed to the public for help in identifying people who were seen talking to the young man earlier in the evening of Friday June 29 or early morning July 30 when the accident took place. A spokesman for the police told the local newspaper Fréttablaðið that all but two of the potential witnesses had contacted the Police. Police suspects that two of the people who they are still trying to contact might be foreign travelers.

There were no witnesses to the accident itself: People only heard a heavy thud when the man's body landed on the sidewalk. Witnesses have described the scene as terrible, due to the injuries sustained by the man, and large quantity of blood. The man was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The death is investigated as an accident, and Police hopes to shed light on the events leading up to the tragic accident, including how and why the man climbed to the roof of the three story building.
