Police in the town of Reykjanesbær on the Reykjanes peninsula were dispatched to rescue an owl on Sunday. The owl, which was stuck in a barbed wire fence, was discovered by locals who were walking their dogs. The people called the emergency number 112, which notified police which arrived at the scene, rescuing the bird.
According to a post on the Facebook page of the Police in the Suðurnes region the owl had injured one of its wings flying into the barbed wire. Officers were able to get the bird loose and take it to a veterinarian in Reykjavík.
No news yet on the conditions of the owl.
