Numerous people have called police to complain over strangers dressed up as clowns knocking on windows after dark. Some parents have also reported that young children have been scared and chased by someone wearing a clown costume. Police suspects that a group of local teens are behind the incidents, the local news site visir.is reports.
A local woman, Nanna Dröfn Harðardóttir, told visir.is that she literally froze from terror when she discovered someone wearing a clown mask staring at her from the darkness. He began knocking on the window. I couldn't see anything, where I was sitting by the window studying. And then I hear this loud thump, and there he appears, just standing and staring in for a long time. And then he disappeared. … I just froze. I hope he doesn't come back. I have small kids, and they would have died of fright had they seen him.
