Police in South Iceland had been called to the house in Selfoss town in South Iceland where two people died in a house fire yesterday afternoon. The Chief Superintendent for the Police in S. Iceland told the local news site Vísir that police has also on several occasions had interactions with the two people who are in custody in connection to the case.

The people, who were taken into custody at the scene, were in the house when the fire broke out. Police has not taken a statement from the people yet due to their impaired state yesterday. They will be interviewed later today after they have sobered up.
The fire took place on Kirkjuvegur street, to the south of the main roundabout in the town.
