Police arrests man suspected of stealing valuables, luggage from rental vehicles 1804

The Metropolitan Police arrested a man yesterday evening on suspicion of having broken into three rental cars in downtown Reykjavík. The man seems to have targeted foreign travelers, stealing luggage and valuables out of their cars. 

Police received reports that someone had broken into three vehicles in less than two hours in downtown Reykjavík. Shortly after nine officers arrested a man who is suspected of the break-ins. He will be held in custody while the police investigates the matter.

People are urged never to leave valuables like purses, cameras, or other expensive electronic equipment in plain view in their rental cars and always to lock their cars.
