Considering how common it is to see people doing things like this to catch that unique quirky travel photo it is actually baffling how few stories we hear of serious or fatal accidents caused by reckless behavior at tourist destinations.

In recent years police, ICE-SAR, park rangers and local guides have on countless occasions tried to curb down on dangerously risky behavior by visitors who ignore all warnings to get a better photo. This has been a persistent problem at two of the most popular tourist destinations in South and South East Iceland, Gullfoss waterfall, Reynisfjara black sand beach and Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon.

But as this photo of an unidentified traveller attempting a hand stand on frozen rocks in the middle of Goðafoss waterfall in North Iceland shows, there seems to be little if any limit to how far people are willing to go to get a unique photo. Shelly Fraser from the UK, who was visiting Goðafoss on November 27 sent us this photo. Shelly was shocked to witness this stunt.

Although the travellers in the photo survived to tell the story, we must agree with Shelly: Sadly there is going to be a serious accident very soon.

Please people: Stay safe! We want every single visitor to return back home – in one piece, and preferably with all bones intact!
