This summer, instead of hay bales wrapped in white plastic, Icelandic fields will be dotted with pink rolls. According to news website BB.is, the initiative is a joint venture between Icelandic farmers and the manufacturers and distributors of bale wrap and meant to bring awareness to breast cancer.
Haymaking season has already begun and the pink hay bales are widely brightening up the countryside.
Bale wrap manufacturer Trioplast has supported similar charities in New Zealand, Sweden, Austria, UK, Ireland and Germany since 2014. The company will donate 1 Euro to the Icelandic Cancer Society for every wrap sold.
