Road crews and engineers from The Icelandic Road and Coastal Authority are busy trying to contain and limit the damage caused by flooding rivers in South East Iceland. The flooding has already damaged large sections of the Ring Road, washing away large sections of the shoulder of the road and breaching the road in at least three spots. A long section of the Ring Road has been closed between Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon and the town Höfn.

Above are photographs showing the conditions in Hornafjörður fjord (first 9 photos), followed by photos taken by Ingi Ragnarsson, a member of ICE-SAR in East Iceland showing conditions in Fljótsdalur valley yesterday, where dozens of sheep drowned.
