Organisations start a petition to try and save the highlands from developments 1603

A number of organisations have created a petition to try and persuade the Icelandic government to save the highlands from intended developments.

As Iceland Insider reported in November there are plans to build a new and broader road across the central highlands, an area which, until now, remains largely untouched.

In addition to the new road, Landsnet, a company that owns and operates all major electricity transmission lines in Iceland, plans to erect high voltage power lines along Sprengisandur.

Anyone can sign the petition and by doing so you support the organizations in their plea to spare the Icelandic highlands from further constructions.
