The center-right coalition government of Iceland only enjoys the support of 31.4% of voters according to a new opinion poll by polling firm MMR. Support for the government has been consistently low since its formation at the beginning of January this year, despite a strong economic recovery after the financial crisis in recent years.
Of the political parties, the right wing Independence Party, which is the leading government party, enjoys the biggest support in the poll, 25.6%. Support for its junior partners in government has waned considerably since the October election. Centre-right Restoration has the support of 5% in the new poll, down from 5.5% in the last one by MMR. The centrist Bright Future comes in at 3.4%.

Despite their gains since the election, the opposition parties generally lose support slightly in the new poll. The Left Green Movement is still the country's second most popular party with 21.4% support, which is two percentage points lower than in the last poll. The antiestablishment Pirate Party has 14.1%, its support growing by 1.3 percentage points.
The Social Democratic Alliance has the support of 9.3%, a drop from the 10.6% in the last poll. The former government party, the centrist Progressive Party, has 12.2%, a slight increase from the 11.1% support it had last time around.
