A bolt of lightning hit one of Icelandair’s planes yesterday evening, according to news website Vísir. The aircraft was approaching Heathrow Airport in London when it was hit. The moment was captured on video.
The spokesman for Icelandair, Guðjón Arngrímsson, says three planes were struck by lightning yesterday evening, all were left undamaged. “In most cases a bolt of lightning will pass through a plane without any damage. After landing, the aircraft will undergo inspection before it returns to service. On this occasion, the plane was left intact.”
