Actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson has signed up to play a giant in Steven Spielberg’s adaption of the Roald Dahl classic The BFG. Filming takes place in Vancouver.

The film, which is Spielberg’s directorial debut for Disney, is based on Roald Dahl’s 1982 children's book The BFG tells the story of a Big Friendly Giant who befriends an orphan girl. It stars Mark Rylance as the title character, and Ruby Barnhill as Sophie. The line-up of giants includes comedian Bill Hader, Jemaine Clement, Michael David Adamthwaite, Daniel Bacon, Chris Gibbs, Adam Godley, Jonathan Holmes, Paul Moniz de Sa and, of course, our very own Ólafur Darri.

Ólafur Darri is excited for the project and admits that he has been a big fan of Spielberg since childhood.
“It’s always weird to meet people you have idolised for years. This is a great next step for me as an actor,” he told Vísir.
The film is scheduled to hit theatres in summer 2016.
