Three American ministers have urged president Barack Obama to take heightened measures against Iceland in an atempt to get Icelandic authorities to move from commercial whaling to whale watching only.

According to Morgunblaðið in the letter, sent on January 23, American ministers are advised to shun events hosted in Iceland and Obama is urged to cancel Iceland‘s invitations to international maritime meetings and re-examine bilateral cooperation projects between the countries.
