One of the most beautiful sights in Iceland is up for sale. The farmland Heiði, by the village Kirkjubæjarklaustur in South Iceland is being offered for sale by a local realtor. The farmland, which covers 315 hectares has no structures but includes the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon, unquestionably one of the most beautiful sights in Iceland. Fjaðrárgljúfur is a popular tourist destination, visited by thousands of foreign travellers each year. Last year the Canadian pop star Justin Bieber visited the canyon, posing for photos and taking a swim in Fjaðrá river which runs through the canyon.

The Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon is a magnificent canyon with sheer walls, about 100 m (330 ft) deep and about 2 km (1.2 miles) long. The serpentine canyon was likely created at the end of the last ice age, when a lake, which had formed above the canyon when the glaciers retreated, emptied out in a cascade flood. The present day Fjaðrá river is a calm pristine fresh water river which can be crossed fairly easily by wading.

The river Fjaðrá separates the two farmlands, Heiði and Holt, so that the canyon is owned jointly by the two farms. Heiði covers the entire eastern part of the canyon, while the western part belongs to Holt.
