The Weather Alert is effective from midnight tonight for the Westfjords, NW Iceland, the Central Highlands as well as the Eastfjords. Strong gales and blizzard will make travel difficult or dangerous. The storm will pick up in the rest of West, North, East and South East Iceland by early morning. By 6 am the IMO is expecting strong gales and hazardous localized winds in all parts of Iceland expect South Iceland west of Vík.

The IMO is expecting sustained windspeeds of 15-23 m/s (33-52 mph), accompanied by much stronger localized winds. Gusts reaching 35-40 m/s (80-90 mph). The storm is expected to be accompanied by blizzard and blowing snow, which will reduce visibility, making travel difficult.
The IMO warns that nobody should be traveling on foot.
