The Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued a warning about minor glacial floods in Múlakvísl river. Scientists flew over the region yesterday and although weather conditions were not optimal, they believe that there is no immediate danger of major flooding or a volcanic eruption.
There was considerable seismic activity in Mýrdalsjökull glacier, where Katla is located. However, it dissipated yesterday. The epicenter of the activity was located at a shallow depth, however before an eruption the epicenter is much deeper within the earth.
The Civil Protection and Emergency Management in Iceland announced yesterday that the situation is uncertain, thus the situation will be closely monitored.
