The second most popular Yule Lad is Stúfur, or Stubby, with 25% naming Stubby as their favorite Yule Lad. The third most popular Yule Lad is Door Slammer: 13% of Icelanders name him as their favorite Yule Lad.
The poll found significant differences when it came to women's and men's ranking of the Yule Lads: Candle Begger is particularly popular among women, 39% of women name him as their favorite, compared to just 19% of men. Stubby is the most popular Yule Lad among the male population, 27% of men naming him as their favorite.
Women and men appear most divided on Sausage Swiper who enjoys significant popularity among men, as 9% of men name him as their favorite Yule Lad, compared to just 1% of women.
Starting on the 12 December, the thirteen Icelandic Yule lads leave their mountain dwellings one by one. The lads leave little gifts for well-behaved children who have placed a shoe on the window sill.
