New Chinese ambassador appointed after his predecessor went missing 1696

Zhang Weidong has been appointed as the Chinese ambassador in Iceland, reports the National Broadcasting Service, RÚV. He’ll replace Ma Jisheng, who was reported missing after failing to return to Iceland after a visit abroad. It was later revealed that Ma Jisheng and his wife had been arrested for espionage.

Zhang Weidong served as the Chinese ambassador in Micronesia before taking the post in Iceland. He is married and has one son.
