A worker for The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA) told ruv.is on Saturday that he had never seen as much snow in Öxnadalsheiði in his twenty years of working for the administration. Öxnadalsheiði is in the North of Iceland and a part of Route 1. The road was closed for two and a half days but re-opened on Saturday after a snow-tunnel had been created, giving commuters the chance to cross the heath in a single file.
