Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson won last night the 2015 Golden Globe awards for the Best Original Score for the film The Theory of Everything. This is Jóhann's first Golden Globe. He has been strongly predicted to receive an Oscar nomination when the shortlist for the 87th Academy Awards will be announced later this week.
Director James Marsh’s The Theory of Everything, stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones. The film received a total of four Golden Globe nominations and Eddie Redmayne won the awards as the best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama category.
Born in 1969 Jóhann is a veteran on the Icelandic music scene, with a background in alternative, indie and electronic music. He was one of the founders of the fantastic Apparat Organ Quartet in 1999 but left the band in 2012 to dedicate himself to his solo projects.
It was evident from his first venture into classical music, with album Englabörn (listen below), that Jóhann was an unusually gifted musician with a broad talent in different categories of the art form.
