Music festival Secret Solstice kicks off today! 15,000 guests expected to attend 5000

The music festival Secret Solstice kicks off at 4 pm today in Laugardalur valley, Reykjavík. 177 international and local artists will perform at the festival this year, including the celebrated British band Radiohead, Die Antwoord, Róisín Murphy and Deftones.

According to the National Broadcasting Service, a number of Radiohead’s members landed in Iceland yesterday. The band is scheduled to perform in Laugardalshöll sports arena tomorrow evening.

The event is expected to draw 15,000 music lovers to the site, which is located next to the gorgeous botanic gardens and Iceland’s main football stadium, Laugardalsvöllur. The festival brings a diverse mix of artists, performing at numerous venues dotted around the area.  

Revellers heading to Secret Solstice can expect rain showers all through the weekend and are advised to dress according to weather; Bring wellies and rain-jackets to avoid getting the sniffles.
