The westbound lanes on Hellisheiði heath, which separates Reykjavík and South Iceland, will also be closed today, Friday, due to road work and repairs. The westbound lanes on the Ring Road are closed at the western roundabout in Hveragerði town in South Iceland, and the intersection of Þrengslavegur and the Ring Road, by the Hellisheiði power plant.

All westbound traffic across the heath is rerouted to Þrengslin road (road 39). Drivers are asked to slow down, show patience and respect instructions and road signs.
