Airborne ash material produced in the Holuhraun lava field eruption is minimal according to the latest report from Civil Protection. The aviation warning area has thus been reduced to 5.000 foot altitude.
All airports in Iceland remain open and commercial flight has not been affected.
The Icelandic Transport Authority has issued a restricted over-flight area around the fissure with a radius of 5.5 km (3.4 mi/3 nm) and to altitude of 5.000 ft.
The fissure is about 1.000 meters (3.280 ft) long.
