The Danish micro-brewery Mikkeller and the owners of Kex Hostel in Reykjavík are considering teaming up to open a Mikkeller beer-bar in the Icelandic capital. Kex Hostel hosts the annual Bjórhátíð beer-festival which representatives from Mikkeller have attended over the past couple of years.
The brewery started up in 2003 as hobby project in Mikkel Bjergso’s kitchen in Copenhagen. A few years later Mikkeller beer is considered among the world’s best breweries.
“They view Reykjavík as an exciting new market, but we haven’t nailed anything down yet,” said Ólafur Ágústsson, Kex Hostel’s restaurant manager, in an interview with Fréttablaðið newspaper.
