Road conditions are widely poor due to ice and snowdrifts. Motorists are urged to show caution when travelling between regions this weekend.
Icy patches are reported on Hellisheiði and Þrengslin roads, part of Ring Road 1, in south Iceland. According to the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration, parts of Lyngdalsheiði and Laugarvatnsvegur roads, south Iceland, are extremely slick.
Roads in Westfjords are reportedly slick and Svínadalur valley is currently impassable due to heavy snow. Crews are working to clear Steingrímsfjarðarheiði, Þröskuldar and Klettsháls of snow. Hranfseyrarheiði and Dynjandisheiði are also impassable due to heavy snow.
In northeast Iceland Hófaskarð, Sandvíkurheiði, Mývatnsöræfi and Mörðudalsöræfi are impassable. Crews are working to remove snow of these roads.
