Authorities have confirmed that one person has been killed as a result of a small plane crash in Tröllaskagi peninsula, north Iceland. Two individuals were in the aircraft when it crashed yesterday, Sunday. The pilot, who survived the crash, was airlifted to hospital in Akureyri and is currently in intensive care.
The plane departed from Akureyri yesterday and was scheduled to land in Keflavík, southwest Iceland, at 4.20 pm. When it failed to do so, 43 search and rescue teams were called to assist local police in the search for the missing plane. The Coast Guard’s helicopter spotted the small plane in Barkárdalur valley, North Iceland, at around 8.30 pm yesterday evening.
