Rescue units are searching for a car that drove off the road into Ölfusá river in Selfoss shortly after 10 pm yesterday evening, reports the National Broadcasting Service.
Rescue units from Selfoss, Eyrarbakki, Þorlákshöfn and Hveragerði, divers and a rescue helicopter from the Coast Guard partook in the extensive search last night. The search began again at daybreak this morning.
It is believed the driver was alone in the car when the accident occurred.
