Majority of residents of Reykjavík find tourists to be pleasant and friendly 2004

When it comes to tourism, the host community of one‘s destination plays an important part in whole tourist experience. A new study, conducted by Maskína for the Reykjavík Tourism Board, shows that the majority of residents in Iceland’s capital have a positive attitude towards tourism in Reykjavík.

According to the study only 2.3% of respondents had a negative attitude towards growing tourism in Reykjavík. 91.8% of respondents considered international visitors to be friendly and pleasant in their dealings with local residents.  

Einar Bárðarson, the tourism board’s director, is happy with the results. “This will help us shape the city’s tourism policy for the next five years,” he told Kjarninn.
