Icelandic fashion designer Magnea Einarsdóttir is set to design a collection for the clothing retailer Club Monaco. According to Vísir.is the head designer for the company‘s knitwear department contacted Magnea a year ago and offered her a chance to design a sub collection for the brand.
“She found us online and was fascinated by our designs and our style. The whole process of working with such a large retailer has been very educational,” Magnea explained. Club Monaco was founded in 1985 and is a high-end clothing retailer owned by Polo Ralph Lauren, and sold in over 140 locations worldwide.
Magnea’s brand, simply called Magnea, was founded in 2013. She showcased her first collection during Reykjavík Fashion Festival this spring and was recently awarded the Icelandic Design Awards 2014.
“I draw inspiration from everything and I’m constantly searching for something to inspire me. I often take photographs when I stumble upon something that catches my interest. Mostly, I’m fascinated by everyday objects and events,” Magnea said in an interview with Iceland Insider in March.
