The island Vigur, a small island in the Ísafjarðardjúp bay in the Westfjords, was listed for sale earlier this summer. The listing has generated considerable interest, not just in Iceland, but around the world the real estate agent who is handling the listing tells the local news site Bæjarins Besta. Davíð Ólafsson, from the realtor Borg told Bæjarins Besta that a number of tour operators and people in the tourism business have been in contact with him. Understandably: Vigur is a true gem.

If you are interested in the 45 hectare (111 acre) island you need to act fast!

The island is sold with all houses, a boat and full farming and hunting rights, 10 hectares (25 acres) of cultivated land, as well as being home to a large and valuable colony of eider, which proruces 50-60 kg (110-130 lbs) of cleaned eiderdown annually.

The most valuable resource of the island, however, is the view. Currently at least 10,000 visitors come to the island each year. The farm has recently been renovated and turned into a small restaurant with seating for 80 guests and guesthouse with 10 bedrooms .
