Ljósanótt, an annual culture and family festival taking place in Reykjanesbær, kicked off yesterday evening. The festival continues throughout the weekend with a plethora of events taking place all over the town. The highlight of the festival is a fantastic firework display tomorrow, Saturday.

Although the Reykjanes peninsula is home to the famous Blue Lagoon, which attracted around 600,000 visitors last year, large parts of the peninsula are almost off the beaten track. With its rugged lava landscape, smoking geothermal fields, and many iconic historic structures, Reykjanes peninsula, and Reykjanesbær town, are definitely worth a visit!
