The Left-Green led coalition government enjoys the support of a solid majority of voters, the latest poll from the polling firm MMR reveals. 60.6% of voters say they support the government, a slight drop from 64.7% in the last poll earlier this month. Coalition government have traditionally enjoyed a honeymoon period after their formation, but no government since the 2008 financial crash has enjoyed higher approval ratings.

The poll, which was conducted on January 25-30 also shows that the only coalition member which adds support since the last poll are the Left Greens. The Left greens enjoy the support of 18.4% of voters, making them the second largest party after the conservative Independence Party with 22.3%. The Left greens have added 3.4% from the last poll on January 17, while the Independence Party has lost 3.5%. The third coalition partner, the centrist Progress Party enjoys 11.2% support, which is unchanged from the latest poll.
Left makes gains
The other main take-aways from the poll is that the largest opposition party, the Social Democratic Alliance, adds support. The Social Democratic Alliance now polls at 14.9%, compared to 13.9% in the last poll. The Pirate Party similarly makes small gains, going from 12.2% to 12.9%. At the same time the right-wing populist People's Party drops from 6.1% to 4.2% and the liberal right wing Restoration slides from 6.2% to 6%.
The only party on the political right which makes gains in the poll is the populist Center Party, which now enjoys the support of 7.7%, compared to 6.9% in the January 17 poll.
