Law banning the strike of Icelandair's pilots passed at parliament 538

A legislative bill banning the strike of pilots at Icelandair has just been passed at Alþingi, the Icelandic parliament.

A compulsory arbitration will be imposed on the parties if they do not reach an agreement before June 1st.

This was a bill proposed by the coalition government of the Independence party (Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn) and the Progressive party (Framsóknarflokkurinn). 

The bill was passed by 32 votes for, 14 against, 6 abstained. Members of Alþingi are 63. The government holds 38 seats.
