The Langjökull Ice Cave was awarded with the Icelandic Travel Industry Association’s Innovation Prize. Ragnheiður Elín Árnadóttir, Minister of Industries and Innovation, presented the award yesterday.

The panel of judges considered the ambitious project, the brainchild of the various travel companies operating on Langjökull, to be one-of-a-kind.

Over 20 thousand guests have visited the 500-metre-long tunnel since it formally opened in June and operators intend to extend its opening into the winter season.
