The bi-annual National Icelandic Horse Competition began yesterday with breeding exhibitions and the first race-horses started competitive events this morning.
Despite weather conditions that could be more favorable to competitors, the weather is expected to lighten up during the middle of the week. Furthermore, organizers of the event expect up to 10.000 people to come visit during the events.
In an interview on mbl.is, Axel Ómarsson, managing director of the National Icelandic Horse Competition said that: “there is considerable business done during the event since it is also an exhibition for potential buyers. Both domestic and foreign parties come to see the best bred horses and if someone is looking to make a purchase this is the best place to do so”.
