The most fun place in Reykjavík this Saturday (16 July) will be the court yard of the great Kex Hostel, at least if you like alternative and indie rock music. The annual KexPort music festival kicks off at noon and ends at midnight, with twelve acts, bands and solo artists, performing, one every hour.
Kex Hostel has been ranked among the most unusual and awesome hostels in the world. Before being turned into a hostel, the building used to house a biscuit factory (kex means biscuit). The hostel has a great bar and restaurant and is a popular hangout spot among locals and visitors. It is located by the oceanfront in downtown Reykjavík with a fantastic view over Mount Esja, the capital’s landmark mountain.
Admission to the concert is free. The festival is held in collaboration with Seattle radio station KEXP-FM. The weather forecast is looking good for Saturday, the line-up of local artists is great so everything is set for a beautiful day.
