The 3.6 million travellers who passed through Keflavík International Airport the first six month of this year make it the 5th busiest airport in the Nordic countries.
According to a report by Swedish newspaper Sydsvenskan, Kastrup in Denmark continues to be the busiest Nordic airport with more than 14 million passengers their first half of 2017. In second place is Gardemoen in Norway with 13 million passengers and in third is Arlanda in Sweden.
In a league of its own
However, Keflavík airport is in a league of its own when it comes to year-over-year growth. It experienced a 46.7% increase in passengers the first six months of this year compared with the same period last year.
Lagging way behind are Billund in Denmark which recorded a growth of 9.1% and Arlanda with 9%.
