A bigger and improved baggage handling system and area was taken into use at Keflavík Airport last month. According to Morgunblaðið newspaper, the new system will be able to transport around 5,000 bags per hour.
An estimated 6.25 million passengers will pass through Keflavík Airport this year. The airport continues to grow with the increased number of passengers and by 2040 it will be able to receive up to 14 million passengers annually.
