Just 1% of foreign visitors disappointed by Reykjavík 6196

The vast majority of foreign travellers who visited Reykjavík in 2016 were pleased with their experience, saying they would recommend visiting the city to others. A poll conducted for Visit Reykjavík among foreign travellers shows that only 1% of visitors were disappointed and rated their experience in Reykjavík as poor.

The poll found that 96% of winter guests and 94% of summer guests would recommend the city to others. 89% of travellers who visited Reykjavík during the summer months rated their experience as either excellent or good, 10% said it was neither good nor bad, while 1% were unhappy with their experience. 

Visitors during the winter months were more positive, 91.5% saying the experience had been excellent or good, 7.5% had an experience which was neither good nor bad and 1% had a negative experience.

A million people visited Hallgrímskirkja
The poll also revealed that visitors were least impressed with the shopping opportunities in Reykjavík, while the public geothermal swimming pools and day trips from Reykjavík got high grades. 

When asked what landmarks people visited, most foreign travellers said they had visited the old harbour and Laugavegur, the main shopping street. 73% had visited the harbour and 71% Laugavegur. Two thirds or 67% had visited Hallgrímskirkja church, which is probably the best known landmark of Reykjavík. This means that at least 1,140 million people visited Hallgrímskirkja last year.
