Looking for a fun family activity during the weekend? Why not join an Easter egg hunt on the historic Viðey island!
A beautiful historic island
Viðey is rich in history and offers an extensive network of trails. It is also home to two impressive art projects, the Imagine Peace Tower by Yoko Ono and the Milestones Project by sculptor Richard Serra.
Alternatively you can walk to the East end of the island to explore the ruins of a fishing village which was abandoned in the 1940s.
A great family activity
On Saturday visitors can also search for small small chocolate eggs which will be hidden around the island! The youngest participants can search in a separate area, to ensure that the bigger and more determined participants don't clean up all the chocolate treasures. The event starts at 13:30 by Viðeyjarstofa, the old stone building which used to be home to the highest royal officials in Reykjavík.
The aim is to find small Chocolate Easter eggs along with the special marked eggs that can be turned in for a bigger prize.
Viðeyjarstofa Café, which is usually closed for the winter, will be open to visitors.
The Viðey ferry sails according to the winter schedule from Skarfabakki on weekends:
Departures from Sundahöfn harbour to Viðey Island
13:15, 14:15 and 15:15
