Participating in the beach clean-up is a great way to experience Icelandic nature, while at the same time giving back. The three beaches to be cleaned are among the more beautiful beaches of Snæfellsnes peninsula.

Three beautiful beaches cleaned
The Icelandic team will focus on three beaches on Snæfellsnes peninsula, asking for the help of volunteers. The Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources Björt Ólafsdóttir has already pledged to participate.

The beach clean-up will start at 13:00. Three beaches will be cleaned, Skógarnes, a beautiful and easily accessible sand beach at the east end of the peninsula, Hofgarður, a  easily accessible sand beach on the south coast of the peninsula. Public lavatories are located at the beach. The third beach is Bervík, a rocky and difficult to reach beach at the tip of the peninsula within the National Park. (See map).

Whole day of festivities and fish-soup for participants
In addition to the beach clean-up, the Snæfellsnes National Park visitor center at Malarrif will be open all day where a special cleaning operation has been organized for children.

At the end of the beach clean-up all participants are invited to a fish-soup party and a festival at the Breiðablik community center on the south coast of the peninsula. The refreshments, soup and entertainment at Breiðablik starts at 16:00.
