Japanese photographer Ariko Inaoka began to photograph Icelandic twins, Erna and Hrefna, in 2009, when the girls were nine years old. She plans to continue photographing the sisters every year until they turn sixteen.
Ariko’s eerie photographs of the sisters have gained much attention, with websites such as Slate.com and BoredPanda.com covering the story behind the photographs.
According to Ariko she aims to give the images a ‘timeless’ look and a magical quality. “I have never seen such a powerful connection between any two human beings. They say to me: “We dream the same dreams sometimes,” the photographer writes on her blog.
