According to Police in West Iceland the Italian woman who was airlifted by the Coast Guard helicopter to the National University Hospital in Reykjavík on Sunday, after a serious car crash on Snæfellsnes peninsula, is no longer in critical condition.
The group, which included five Italian travellers, was driving along the highway on the North shore of Snæfellsnes peninsula, near the town of Stykkishólmur in West Iceland, when they lost control of the car, which rolled over. The woman was promptly airlifted to Reykjavík, along with two other passengers who had suffered serious injuries in the crash. The local news site visir.is reports that the other two suffered only minor injuries and were taken to Reykjavík by ambulances.
