Icelandic climber Ingólfur Axelsson has left Everest base camp giving up his hope to summit the world’s highest mountain this year.
The route to the top of Everest from Nepal has been closed after sixteen Nepalese guides were killed in a devastating avalanche last Friday.
The peak climbing season was due to start at the beginning of May.
