IMO warns of strong gusts of wind near Vatnajökull glacier 1293

The Icelandic Met Office warns of strong gusts of wind south of Vatnajökull glacier and the southern part of the East fjords today. Single blasts of wind are expected to measure up to 18 metres per second (40 mph/65 km/h).

Wind will increase in Snæfellsnes, Breiðafjörður bay and Westfjords in the afternoon, also reaching up to 18 metres per second.

The IMO stresses that the strong wind can be dangerous for vehicles sensitive to crosswind and advice motorists so show caution.
