IMO issues flood warnings as heavy rain continues to sweep across south Iceland 2340

Flood warnings are in place for today and tomorrow as heavy rainfall continues to sweep across the south and the west of Iceland. The Icelandic Met Office has issued a flood warning for southeast Iceland, with an increasing risk of landslides.

The IMO is forecasting accumulations of up to 100 mm in the next eight hours in near Öræfajökull and Vatnajökull glaciers, southeast Iceland. Motorists are warned of possible flooding on the roads in the area. They are also advised not to attempt driving through flooded roads or cross heavily flooded rivers.
