IMO issues a storm warning for the east today, Tuesday 1293

The IMO has issued a weather warning for the eastern regions today, Tuesday, with gusts of wind reaching up to 23 metres per second (51 mph/83 kilometres per hour). Individual gusts could reach a speed of 40 metres per second (89 mph/144 kilometres per hour) near Höfn in Hornafjörður and Vatnajökull glacier, causing sand clouds to form in parts of the area.

Some snowfall is expected in the north and east but will slowly clear by early evening.

Temperatures along the south coast are milder than of late, with maximum temperatures around 2 degrees Celsius (35 Fahrenheit). However, temperatures remain low in the Westfjords.
