The Icelandic woollen sweater is all the rage amongst locals and tourists alike. To meet the increased demand for locally made sweaters the Icelandic clothing manufacturer Icewear has added two customized knitting machines to their factory in Vík in Mýrdalur, Southeast Iceland.

The knitting machines not only increase production speeds but also lower production cost, meaning the sweaters cost 40 percent less than had they been produced overseas, reports Mbl.is.

Icewear will be able to produce 10 thousand sweaters annually and the very first samples have already hit their flagship store in Bankastræti, down-town Reykjavík.
