Iceland’s tallest tree now measures 27 metres (88.5 ft). The tree in question is a Sitka spruce that was planted in Kirkjubæjarklaustur, southeast Iceland, in 1949. Two other Sitka spruce trees in the area measured over 25 metres (82 ft), reports Morgunblaðið.

Sitka spruce is a type of evergreen trees and can grow to become almost 100 metres (330 ft) tall, meaning the spruce in Kirkjubæjarklaustur has still some growing to do.
